Happy Thanksgiving!

And now, bless the God of all,
who has done wondrous things on earth;
Who fosters people’s growth from their mother’s womb,
and fashions them according to his will!
May he grant you joy of heart
and may peace abide among you;

Sometimes, we are so overwhelmed by the rocks, crags, and crannies in our life; we would stop the world in order to get off.  But if we could but just look through and beyond out troubles and difficulties, we can see the wide, big blue ocean. And there is our boat waiting to take us to our new adventure.

Often, we spend out time in praying for favors and blessings, for things that we could be thankful. But if could just but stop and think awhile and start by counting our blessings; we would realize how favored and blessed we are already. We just have to realize that we do not need more things to be thankful for; we simply need to be more thankful.

During moments of grace, I would realize that the sin I am most often guilty of is to even dare to ask for anything more from God. With his gift of life to me, I already have everything I need to be happy and fulfilled. I don’t need more. It is like saying, “God, you missed this gift or this grace when you created me. Can I please have it?” How presumptuous!

I do not need anything more. I have everything I need. In fact, it is in being grateful for what I have that I am able to become the reason for others to be also grateful. And the blessings will just never end:

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
