Travel Light

Travel light.
It is a lesson I took time in learning.
I used to lug heavy suitcases in my early travels.
Packing things I might need just in case.
Often to find out I don’t need them at all,
Or I can easily get them where I was going.
Eventually, I learned
I could make do without those extra pieces of clothes,
Or I could survive with just a pair of shoes
Or one jacket is all I need.
On learning that, I enjoyed my travels a lot more.

Travel light.
It is a life-lesson I am still learning till now.
I don’t have to lug all the baggages from my past.
I can leave all my hurts and worries behind
And just put them in the good Lord’s hands.
Love and kindness are all I need for the journey
And everything else will be given to me along the way
I can give away everything and I will travel even lighter.
I soon discover that the more I give away
The less I am in want of any thing I need.

Your word, O Lord, is a lamp for my feet.
Psalm 119

Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority
over all demons and to cure diseases,

and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God
and to heal the sick.
He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey,
neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money,
and let no one take a second tunic.
Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there.
And as for those who do not welcome you,
when you leave that town,
shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.”
Luke 9:1-5
