Signposts Along the Journey

Being poor is not good; neither is being hungry.
Life is not meant to be spend in weeping and in sorrow.
Hatred, insults, evil and persecutions are not what life is made of.
Life is meant to be enjoyed, celebrated and be thankful for.

These trails and tribulations are but signposts
that mark and guide our journey.
They are not our destination.
They merely point us the way.
Being poor prepares us for when we come into the fullness of life.
Being hungry moves us forward to where our hunger will be satisfied.
Our tears and our sorrows will be turned into tears of joy and laughter,
For that is what happens when we finally arrive home:
No more hatred, no more persecutions,
Evil is finally vanquished
And we will spend our days in joyful and grateful celebration.

Listen to me; see and bend your ear.
Psalm 45

Raising his eyes toward his disciples Jesus said:
“Blessed are you who are poor,
for the Kingdom of God is yours.
Blessed are you who are now hungry,
for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who are now weeping,
for you will laugh.
Blessed are you when people hate you,
and when they exclude and insult you,
and denounce your name as evil
on account of the Son of Man.
Rejoice and leap for joy on that day!
Behold, your reward will be great in heaven.
For their ancestors treated the prophets
in the same way.”
Luke 6:20-23
