Thank God For Another Wonderful Day!

It’s another wonderful day. The sun is out and the sky is clear and blue. Another day to truly appreciate life and to to be thankful to be alive. It could be a rainy and wet day like it is in the Philippines right now. Or, it could be the middle of a drought such as what California is going through right now. But in spite of it all, there is always reason to be appreciative of life and to be thankful for all its blessings.

Ii is Julia’s birthday and I look forward to seeing her and Mickey for dinner tonight. I thank God for all the wonderful people in my life. I can never truly fathom the reason why I have been blessed with so many wonderful people in my life: family, friends, colleagues and comrades. Not everyone I have met has been an angel. I have met some devils and a few monsters in my life. Still in all, I have learned to accept them and have tried never to be judgmental. God has been very patient and forgiving of me. I try to live out His loving kindness and forgiving love in my life as well.

Life is a blessing. And it is totally undeserved and unmerited. But it is not meant to be lived in irresponsible licentiousness nor in selfish, pleasure seeking hedonism. Nature and its beauty is there for me to appreciate, take care of and be thankful for. People and their goodness are there for me to care for, to love and to serve, to be happy and joyful with. Life and its truth is there for me to learn and understand, to live by and stand for, to seek and finally find the Light.

I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord.
~ Psalm 116
Jesus was going through a field of grain on the sabbath.
His disciples were hungry
and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them.
When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him,
“See, your disciples are doing what is unlawful to do on the sabbath.”
He said to the them, “Have you not read what David did
when he and his companions were hungry,
how he went into the house of God and ate the bread of offering,
which neither he nor his companions
but only the priests could lawfully eat?
Or have you not read in the law that on the sabbath
the priests serving in the temple violate the sabbath
and are innocent?
I say to you, something greater than the temple is here.
If you knew what this meant, I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
you would not have condemned these innocent men.
For the Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath.”
Matthew 12:1-8
