Words are all I have to describe the beauty and goodness around me.
Whether I am happy or sad, I have words to comfort and console me.
I reach out to others and words truly come in handy.
I let others into my inner self, and there are words that come to me.
But talk is cheap and words tend to become hollow,
If the acts I do after the words do not follow.
Words spoken merely as words and do not describe reality
Are often mere lies; they are meaningless and empty.
Reason is what I need to learn and discover the world around me.
It is reason that guides me as I shape my future and destiny.
Yet my reasoning often falls short and fails me
When I do not let my reasons also reside in the heart that beats within me.
Intellectual assent to the truth is exhilarating.
But it remains an mental exercise unless the thinking becomes acting.
The mind is where my thoughts and reason reside.
But the push for me to act, it’s the heart that provide.
Thoughts are merely thoughts and remain powerless, useless.
I unleash their power when through my acts I put them to harness.
Words wield their power when translated into acts.
Reasons become reality when though action they become facts.
When my words and the actions become as one,
When my thoughts and my deeds intimately intertwine,
When who I am in my innermost self
Is the same person as whom others see,
Then I shall have become a person of integrity.
Let my ‘Yes’ be a ‘Yes’ and I will do what I say ‘Yes’ to.
And let my ‘No’ be a ‘No’ and that thing I will forgo.
Your ways, O LORD, make known to me; teach me your paths.
Psalm 25
Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people:
“What is your opinion? A man had two sons.
He came to the first and said,
‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’
He said in reply, ‘I will not, ‘
but afterwards changed his mind and went.
The man came to the other son and gave the same order.
He said in reply, ‘Yes, sir, ‘but did not go.
Which of the two did his father’s will?”
They answered, “The first.”
Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you,
tax collectors and prostitutes
are entering the kingdom of God before you.
When John came to you in the way of righteousness,
you did not believe him;
but tax collectors and prostitutes did.
Yet even when you saw that,
you did not later change your minds and believe him.”
